second issue. Clean up CFAC. The aluminum plant in Columbia Falls has unprotected toxic waste dumps which are contaminating the local water table and the Flathead River with cyanide and heavy metals- and nothing is being done to stop it. Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MTDEQ) has no money for lawyers, testing, etc-to make the Multinational conglomerate Glencore-owners of the plant- fix the problem. The US Environmental Protection Agency( EPA) lawyer even claimed they didn’t know who OWNED the plant, because they had no money to do the research. Once again Republican corporate loyalty makes them defund the MTDEQ, and the EPA. I will push the House to seize the bull by the horns and clean up the mess. It’s not that expensive to fix it- just move it a couple hundred yards onto a good membrane, and cover it with another good membrane- then figure out what to do with it later. Lots of people drink the water, no matter what the “experts” at the EPA think. The State should undertake the task on their own immediately- and sue Glencore to pay for it.
